Telephone Block Wiring (cw1308) is used for standard voice telephone connections from your phone system, cabling is star wired from the PBX to the individual outlet positions, this cabling is not suitable for data or PC use.  

Where there are multiple rooms or floors being wired, large cables with multiple connections will be installed between junction boxes to facilitate easy connection around each room.  Standard telephone cabling is the cheapest and most popular option for the small business.

Cat-5e (or Structured/Network Cabling) can be used for voice or data, so a computer or a digital/analogue telephone can be plugged into any outlet.

Normally the outlets are terminated into a patching panel near your phone system and network switch and/or router so that connections and changes can be easily made without an engineer visit.  

Cat-5 cabling costs more than standard wiring but is essential if you need to be able to connect PCs and be able to move and shuffle staff around your office without paying for an engineer visit.
