BT Pathway  -  Alternative Routing - Did you know...
Alternative Routing, as well as automatically routing all your calls to an alternative LCR network provider, can also decide line priority.  As an example: a small office with one Voice line and one Fax line, the first-choice line used could be the Fax line for outgoing calls leaving the Voice line free for those important incoming calls.  The BT Pathway & BT Inspiration telephone system will automatically use the Voice line for an outgoing call if the Fax line is busy.
Alternative Routing can also be used to connect a Premicell (Mobile Network) unit or a VOIP connection, chosen numbers can automatically route to a chosen exchange line where the device is connected, with the option to exclusively use that line or to reroute if the line is already engaged.

BT Pathway  -  Lines show busy message then release
When dialling a 9 if busytone is heard or on pressing a line key - the display shows busy then releases the line and you know the lines are not in use, this can be an indication of an external line fault.  Check each connected line in turn using the trunk select codes (51-58 - Lines 1-8).

BT Pathway  -  System will not boot up, no dialtone
If you have no dial tone at all extensions and all the system featurephones show either of the following messages (or similar) when the system is powered on:

BT Pathway:  EPS: 01 1.16 H

BT Inspiration:  SETUP: V1.08

Normally the Red LED in the MDF (wiring area) will be solid/on or completely off rather than flashing (normal operating condition),  >> contact us for a site visit as we can normally resolve this fault.

BT Pathway  -  External Lines - Delayed Disconnection
After making an external call you may notice that the line takes some time to clear (disconnect), if you are using a system featurephone the line key will be lit red for some time after your call is finished.

This behaviour is normally due to an error in the line programming of the phone system and can be very frustrating when you need to make lots of calls !

Please >> contact us if you need engineer assistance to cure this problem.

BT Pathway  -  Using Last Number Redial
When using standard telephones with your BT Pathway or Inspiration phone system, you may notice if they have a REDIAL or LNR (Last Number Redial) key that the call fails when using this key, this is due to the telephone dialling the number too quickly (not leaving a pause between the 9 dialled for an external line and the telephone number).

Some telephone have the facility to be programmed for PBX usage so that when using Redial, a pause is automatically inserted after the 9 is dialled.
Alternatively users should be briefed to use the System Last Number Redial feature - this can be used by dialling 60.
